City Plants
City Plants’ mission is to grow a greener future for Los Angeles by engaging Angelenos to plant and care for trees throughout the City. City Plants envisions a Los Angeles in which people in every neighborhood have equal access to trees and their benefits: clean air, energy efficiency, better health, cooling shade, and friendlier, more vibrant communities. City Plants works with six non-profit partners and several different LA City departments to transform streets and neighborhoods.
Los Angeles is losing trees at a time when we need them the most. We expect our City to get hotter in the coming decades, and trees are key to cooling our homes, streets, and schools. We must plant aggressively now to ensure that as temperatures rise, our City is equipped with a cooling canopy of healthy, mature trees.
Trees are a critical tool for building a climate resilient city. We must plant now to ensure a green future for our kids and grandkids.
City Plants works with community groups, residents, and businesses to coordinate tree planting and tree care throughout the City of Los Angeles, and we prioritize tree planting in low canopy neighborhoods. City Plants grows a sustainable Los Angeles by maximizing the city canopy’s energy efficiency, stormwater capture, human health benefits, and climate adaptation benefits.
By supporting City Plants’s urban greening initiative through JetSet Offset, you are investing in local level, on-the-ground climate resilience for one of the largest cities in the world. Help City Plants achieve the ambitious goals set forth in LA’s Green New Deal:
• Plant and maintain 90,000 trees in Los Angeles by 2021
• Increase tree canopy in areas of greatest need by at least 50% by 2029 to grow a more equitable urban forest that provides cooling, public health, habitat, energy savings, and other benefits
